My Very First Blog Post
I feel like we are about to take an exciting trip! This is how I felt when we opened Be...An Artist sixteen months ago! What a great journey it has been! This is what drives me as an artist/teacher and an entrepreneur. Not knowing what happens next!
We are about to open our cooking school 'Be...A Chef' in the back of our studio. We have everything lined up to start. We even did our first tester class and it was so much fun!
Will it work? I sure think so. The reason? I think we NEED this in our community. So many of us live a life which is so busy that we don't have time to cook, or we are stuck in a rut and make the same 'go to' recipes that we have been making for years. The classes at Be... will be for adults and children.
Why are we so excited? At Be...you will learn new methods of doing things from a trained professional! We have the instructors who teach at Le Cordon Bleu! They are masters of the art of cooking! This will help you feel like a pro in the kitchen! You will learn new recipes and ways to prepare them which will make you confident in the kitchen, and you get to do this with other nice people with the same goals as you!
We will be bringing in so many classes. We all want to feel the best we can. Healthy eating is a big part of what we will be doing. Learning how to make delicious, more plant based recipes is a huge goal here. Showing how healthy eating is enjoyable if everything is prepared the right way!
Now, for the kids classes at Be...A Chef! We will offer to three different age groups. The tiny chefs 5-8 years old, 9-12 year olds, and the tweens and teens. This will be an amazing learning experience for children, and they will grow up having the tools they need to cook healthy meals and ENJOY doing it! Cooking lessons will have huge benefits for your child.
Not only will your children learn to prepare healthy meals, they are practicing math skills, reading skills, social skills, and even science skills! Measuring, sequencing, and even learning how there are reactions to things such as using yeast to make dough rise! They will be working together, taking turns and follow steps together as a group.
At Be...we will reinforce kitchen safety, and the responsibility of cleaning up their messes! We hope that learning at such a young age enables them to carry over what they learned to your home. When they begin preparing their own meals, and hopefully meals for their families and friends, they will know that cleaning up and putting everything away when they are done is part of the whole experience! Building confidence in the kitchen!
Come join us on this new adventure. Our kitchen is growing. We hope to keep building it as we go. We will be adding more and more to make it the perfect place to learn new skills.
I get so excited thinking about the possibilities! We hope to see you soon at Be...A Chef!
